The role of artificial intelligence in smart lithium batteries: Marco Righi will be among the speakers at iVT Expo

When it comes to components and technology applied to the electrification of electric vehicles, it is essential that you always keep up with innovation, so you are ready to tackle any imminent new challenges brought about by the electric revolution. This is the main reason for the packed schedule of talks offered at iVT Expo, the trade show about next-gen components, suppliers and technologies for industrial vehicles, which will take place on 26th and 27th June 2024 at Köln Messe, where we will be attending for the second year running at booth 2009.
As one of the main experts in the field of lithium batteries for the industrial sector, on Thursday 27th June at 14:20 in the Offenbachsaal Room, Marco Righi, the founder and CEO of Flash Battery, will be speaking at the event. He will be talking as part of the “Electrification & Alternate Power Sources” series of talks, with a speech about the key role of artificial intelligence for making smart lithium batteries, which support manufacturers by making high-performance and predictive industrial machinery.
At the heart of his speech will be the role of the Flash Data Center, Flash Battery’s automatic and real-time remote control system: this technology removes time and geographical constraints, preventing faults before they occur and improving the performance of over 25,000 Flash Battery lithium batteries installed around the world through advanced big data analysis.
If we look at the future of the off-highway vehicle industry, electrification, automation and predictive maintenance will be the three main drivers for change that will take hold over the next five years. It therefore becomes essential to steer company research and development in this direction, so that all the strategic skills that are required to lead the sector’s technological transition can be developed in-house. The over 150 exhibitors know this all too well, who will bring the latest next-gen technologies for the industrial vehicles of the near future to iVT Expo from 26th to 27th June 2024.
Flash Battery will be waiting for you

It is an ambitious goal and part of the core values that have driven Flash Battery’s development ever since it was founded in 2012. Even back in 2013, this goal resulted in the implementation of the first release of the Flash Data Center, its proprietary remote control system for batteries which, right from the outset, was designed to monitor daily use of batteries around the world, gathering operating data and sending preventive alerts in the event of possible faults, although it is so much more today thanks to research.
By focusing in detail on the main technical features of the Flash Data Center and its evolution over time, the speech by Flash Battery’s CEO at the iVT Expo conference, entitled “The role of artificial intelligence in smarter lithium batteries”, will highlight how investing in research and technology and, now more than ever, in the development of AI, can provide the right tools to increase the efficiency and productivity of the machinery of the near future.
The Flash Data Center, which even back when it was first released was a pioneer in the field of remote monitoring, has undergone constant evolution from 2013 to date. Created from the need to optimise time and to check batteries’ state of health remotely, preventing unnecessary travel and machine downtime, the Flash Data Center is now an extremely intelligent remote control system which, thanks to the latest machine learning and AI algorithms, can learn, store and process the operating data of each lithium battery on a constant basis (200 million logs), allowing true optimisation of the industrial machine using the battery.
The software, integrated in a virtual environment with Containerized Architecture, recreates a digital twin of each battery, analyses its state of health 24/7 and enables OEMs and manufacturers to perform self-diagnostics, predictive maintenance and advanced big data analysis of their battery systems, all in real time, simply by connecting to the portal.
The Flash Data Center is a real-life example of the Internet of Things, which Marco Righi will use during his speech in a demonstration to bring the audience’s attention to the great power of AI to increase the performance of machinery and to make technology more intuitive and user-friendly for an extremely diverse user audience.
Lithium batteries are extremely complicated systems and the use of technologies like machine learning allows us to acquire detailed information on how every application is actually being used and to estimate with great precision the lifespan of the battery installed on the machine, while carrying out predictive analysis. Furthermore, by collecting daily data, you can change the parameters of the battery or vehicle through FOTA updates – Firmware Over-the-Air – to optimise overall performance and the effective lifespan of the entire system.
“Thanks to the important intervention of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Flash Data Center now allows for very accurate analysis of a battery’s SOH. On the one hand, this gives the customer the possibility of predicting its behaviour and gaining useful information to refine the machine’s performance over time, and on the other hand, this allows Flash Battery to design increasingly intelligent next-gen batteries”.
As the main nerve centre of European components, the 2024 edition of iVT Expo will also be a special meeting point with the powertrain system integrators currently active in our main reference markets: this will be a unique opportunity to strengthen partnerships and to provide increasingly widespread coverage for the electrification demands of many European OEMs and manufacturers ready for the electric transition.
In fact, the electrification market is experiencing unprecedented growth, particularly in industrial segments such as construction, material handling, agriculture, aerial platforms and special electric vehicles, which need active support during a technological shift that requires various skills in many working areas.
It is therefore not enough to know how to make high-quality lithium batteries: this must be supported by a clear business strategy, by a flexible industrial approach and, above all, by excellent strategic partnerships with powertrain system integrators, so they can meet one of the main needs of manufacturers today: the search for a complete, turnkey product that is readily available in their region.
To cater to this need, already several years ago now, Flash Battery has organised a series of strategic partnerships in all the main European markets which are sensitive to the issue of sustainable innovation and are highly demanding when it comes to quality.
We are talking about countries like Germany, Benelux, the Czech Republic, Spain and the United Kingdom which, thanks to a synergistic network of partnerships with highly experienced system integrators, see us as one of the leading players in the electric transition of their industrial sectors.
Manufacturers of industrial machines and electric vehicles on these markets will be able to access the proprietary lithium technology of our lithium batteries, directly on site, thanks to valuable partnerships with powertrain system integrators, who act as a single point of contact in the region. This approach helps provide detailed consultancy about the entire electrification project in every aspect: from designing the right Flash Battery lithium battery for the specific requirements of the application, right up to choosing all the components around it.
Flash Battery’s presence at iVT Expo will therefore be an excellent way to strengthen existing partnerships and to open up a dialogue with new figures in the sector, in order to forge strategic collaborations that help bring together different skills and create value for the customer, being able to anticipate their needs, offering solutions with a high degree of technical and technological innovation.
Innovation, technology and partnerships will therefore be the three keywords behind our participation in the 2024 edition of iVT Expo. Flash Battery’s sales team will be waiting for you at booth 2009 to show you the latest developments in our proprietary lithium technology and to be by your side in building, kWh after kWh, the future of industrial electrification.
