A key collaborative agreement was signed in mid-June 2021 with Atech GmbH, a Bavarian company with solid experience in powertrains for battery-powered industrial electric vehicles.
The more than 35 years of in-depth knowledge of electrified industrial vehicles and know-how for achieving excellence have established Atech as a reputable worldwide player and a competent and proficient business partner to meet the increasing demand for electrification in many diverse sectors.
Through their partnership, Flash Battery and German company Atech aim to offer complete electrification packages to German-speaking markets, with latest-generation lithium batteries that make a perfect match for the excellent components the Bavaria-based company produces for its numerous core business industrial applications.
Atech is in fact very active in the development of powertrain solutions for electrification in the fields of goods handling, manufacturing, agriculture, building construction, light and heavy-duty vehicles, watercraft, industrial robotics, and MEWP, which are all in the fast lane to electric conversion.
The electrification market is expanding rapidly in northern European countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland and an increasing number of industrial machinery manufacturers are looking for complete electrification solutions that can meet their needs for high quality, reliability and customisation.
With a long background in electrification, Flash Battery and Atech have joined their two know-hows to support the transition to electrification with excellence. German manufacturers and OEMs can confidently turn to a system integrator with a proven track record that will now have the support in their region of Italy’s top lithium production company.
The cutting-edge technology of Flash Battery is now available to German-speaking markets. Together with Atech’s expertise in the field of powertrains and components, industrial machinery manufacturers requiring highly customised solutions can now count on lithium battery packs that are built around their needs, meeting the energy mechanical and electrical requirements of their applications.
Every aspect of the battery pack will be analysed in detail by the R&D departments of Flash Battery and Atech in conjunction with the final customer to determine together the application requirements, energy consumption, sizing, weight, life cycles and desired electronic features.
In fact, Flash Battery batteries include a one-of-a-kind battery monitoring and management system called Flash Data Center that makes it possible to implement predictive maintenance and monitor every battery parameter remotely. Its proprietary BMS – the Flash Balancing system – is another one of its groundbreaking innovations, an ultra-fast and high-power (20°) active and passive balancing system that has a negligible impact on the overall recharging time.
Established in 1987 by Christl and Helmut Gäbelein, today Atech GmbH – Antriebstechnik is a major European player in design and development of integrated systems and processes for electrification of applications and industrial vehicles. The company’s greatest strength is its ability to develop and produce complete electrification systems for highly demanding industrial applications and electric vehicles.
In 1995, the company was already developing and producing hybrid drive systems for airport ground support equipment, GSEs, tracked vehicles, forklift trucks, large industrial equipment and others in collaboration with the top manufacturers in the relevant fields. Today, with the advent of electric mobility, the international demand for full-electric vehicles has grown considerably across many sectors and Atech’s long industrial experience and components know-how has conveyed to industrial vehicle manufacturers the necessary trust and confidence for tackling together the electric conversion of their vehicles.
The collaboration agreement between Flash Battery and Atech will leverage the levels of excellence achieved by the two European companies and will be geared toward technological innovation. The lithium battery know-how of Flash Battery marries the long experience of a powertrain system integrator that delivers active support to customers at every stage of a project, from machining to assembly through to production, for a complete electrification project.
“Lithium batteries,” explains Anton Eberharter, CTO and Managing Director of Atech, “are very prevalent in the goods handling field, and in this area Flash Battery delivers remarkable performance, from 7kWh all the way to 300 kWh, just as it provides excellent tailored solutions for specialty industrial vehicle applications, where it was the first to experiment with solutions before they became widespread. In the agricultural and construction machinery fields, but also in the off-road vehicle field, electrification is in its infancy and we will capitalise on the experience of our Italian partner, which has invested large sums in research and cutting-edge applications that could spur electrification processes the advantages of which are clear”.
