Collaborations with powertrain system integrators are a fundamental part of our daily work, enabling us to offer the global market lithium batteries integrated into fully tailored, turnkey electrification packages, specifically designed to meet the unique operational needs of each industrial machine. The result? Optimal performance, greater efficiency, and reliability across a wide range of operating conditions.
Let’s delve into why collaborating closely with specialised technical partners allows us to bring the excellence of our Italian lithium batteries to the international stage, delivering efficient, personalised solutions that meet the ever-evolving demands of the global electric market.
FLASH BATTERY APPROACH
Flash Battery’s customisation approach: a collaborative process for tailor-made lithium batteries
Flash Battery’s philosophy stands out clearly in the field of electrification solutions for industrial vehicles. While many manufacturers focus on offering standardised batteries, our approach is based on a fundamental principle: every industrial application has specific needs that require a tailor-made lithium battery.
Our customisation process begins with an analysis of the vehicle’s operational requirements: during the planning and design phase, the focus is centred on the specific use of the machine. We then define the battery architecture and select the components based on a comprehensive analysis of the entire machine system.
For this reason, each new project involves setting up technical working groups where Flash Battery engages closely with all the stakeholders involved, including motor, inverter, and PDU (Power Distribution Unit) suppliers, to develop the most efficient electrical architecture. It is precisely during this preliminary phase of needs analysis that having an experienced partner to personally oversee the selection of system components and the composition of the machine architecture becomes crucial to ensuring that the project perfectly aligns with the client’s requirements.

ALL THE STEPS IN AN ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT
From concept to production of a battery: all the phases in an electrification project with our partners
Building an electric industrial machine or vehicle is a complex process that demands in-depth knowledge and complete control over every component. The collaboration between Flash Battery and our specialised powertrain integration partners allows us to achieve seamless integration, ensuring our batteries operate at their best while adding value in terms of overall machine performance and autonomy.
Example of custom lithium batteries by Flash Battery for industrial machines and vehicles
Let’s explore how a collaborative electrification project takes shape with our international partners:
1) Project launch
Everything begins with the launch of a new project, which may be initiated by the customer, the powertrain system integrator, or directly by Flash Battery. During this phase, the overall project goals and the client’s expectations are clearly defined.
2) Data collection
The powertrain system integrator works closely with the client and Flash Battery to gather all the necessary data for designing the system. Key data collected include:
- Expected energy consumption
- Machine working cycle
- Operating environment (IP rating, operating temperatures, vibrations, etc.)
- Size and weight constraints
- Performance requirements
This phase is crucial for fully understanding the machine’s specific requirements and to start outlining the most suitable solution.
3) Analysis and preliminary proposal
Based on the data collected, the powertrain system integrator analyses the key operational requirements of the machine and drafts a preliminary proposal for the overall powertrain system architecture, while Flash Battery develops the specific battery solution. The two proposals are then combined in a single solution to be presented to the client.
4) Proposal presentation and technical workshop with the client
The proposal is then presented to the client in a dedicated meeting, where all technical and financial aspects are thoroughly discussed. This interactive phase is essential to refine the proposed electrification solution and ensure it perfectly meets the client’s expectations.
5) Customisation of the battery and prototype production
Once the proposal is accepted, the mechanical and electrical customisation of the battery begins, followed by the production of the prototype. Flash Battery manufactures the battery according to the agreed specifications, while the powertrain system integrator handles integration with the other system components.
6) On-site commissioning and field testing
Once the prototype is ready, a joint technical team from Flash Battery and the powertrain system integrator visits the client on-site to assist with installation and commissioning, and to oversee field testing. This phase is crucial to ensure that the system’s performance meets expectations and to identify any areas for improvement.
7) Final validation and mass production
After commissioning, two scenarios may arise:
If everything goes as planned from the start, the project is validated and mass production begins immediately. If necessary, any modifications are agreed upon with the client to further optimise the product before launching mass production.
This structured process, which is founded on close collaboration between all the stakeholders, ensures the development of bespoke electrification solutions tailored to the unique requirements of each industrial application.
8) Continuous Training
Once mass production begins, the collaboration remains ongoing. Together with the powertrain system integrator, Flash Battery offers the client and its key dealers a series of technical training sessions. The goal is to empower manufacturers to become increasingly autonomous and well-informed about the distinctive features of Flash Battery lithium batteries and the resulting commercial advantages.
