The 100 Miglia delle Terre Gonzaghesche, the time-speed-distance rally for classic cars, which is part of the 2013 Torri & Motori Championship, was held last Sunday, May 5th. Flash Battery‘s participation with an electric vehicle was the big news of this eighth edition of the race.

While sports competitions specifically dedicated to electric vehicles have been around for some years now, electric vehicles have less frequently participated in traditional TSD rallies for classic cars. For this rally we entered a 2004 Citroen Saxo equipped with 24kW/h lithium batteries and the Flash Battery BBS balancing system, with a range of 150 km and an engine with rated power of 15 kW. The express aim of our participation was to prove that an electric vehicle can take part in a medium-distance course and complete it successfully. Mission accomplished!

Though Flash Battery’s crew did not make it into the ranking due to the vehicle being too recent (only cars built before 1992 were allowed), they covered the entire course (around 140 km) and tackled the 40 TSD trials, which enabled them to simulate intensive use of the system.
