How much is it worth to buy a lithium battery? Or, better still, how much can ownership of such a battery yield over the entire lifetime of one’s industrial machine ?

Manufacturers of mobile machinery – in particular manufacturers of aerial platforms and compact cranes – need to ask themselves this question in particular, in the face of the need to drive the economic value of the energy transition applied to new sustainable propulsion systems (represented, in the foreground, by electrified solutions, especially through battery powerpacks).

An overall economic assessment of the useful life of a battery – in particular of a lithium battery, the most advanced technology in the sector – cannot refer, for a manufacturer, to the exclusive aspect of the purchase price from a specialised OEM. It must take into account the TCO (Total Cost Ownership), which is the complete analysis of the cost-effectiveness of the proprietary investment.
