The partnership between the articulated crane manufacturer Fassi Gru and Flash Battery has resulted in the electrification project of a mid-range behind cab crane on an endothermic truck.
The increasingly sustainable approach adopted by Fassi Gru and a growing demand for articulated cranes capable of working indoors and in residential areas without the need to keep the truck running, and therefore with zero emissions and zero noise, have prompted the Bergamo-based manufacturer to turn to Flash Battery to effectively electrify its latest model of behind cab crane, mounted on an endothermic truck.
The collaboration involved the design and supply of a customised lithium battery pack from a mechanical and electrical point of view, considering the specific performance and operational requirements of a hybrid vehicle. In addition to its straightforward mechanical design, which allows easy inspection and is optimal in terms of size, the battery pack (51.2V-560Ah) is equipped with a heating system and is effective in electrifying the crane’s power system, while maintaining the crane’s performance. The battery has a dual charging system: through a dedicated battery charger to be connected to the 220V power supply or through an electric motor connected to the truck’s power take-off, which acts as a power generator when the truck is in motion.
