Onsite Lift | A concrete sustainable future, towards the new European battery regulation
06/05/2023 – Onsite Lift
We increasingly hear about ‘circular economy’ and ‘green economy’ applied to the most diverse production fields. The battery and accumulator sector is certainly not excluded from this trend, and in order to make it fit a more sustainable production model, it has been decided to introduce a new European Regulation.
The new European Battery Regulation, currently scheduled to be published in May 2023, is a legislative initiative that is part of the European Green Deal and aims to stimulate technological progress in the battery sector and minimise the impact of their production on the environment.
An objective that will be pursued by setting different requirements, measures and specific activities to be carried out for the marketing of all types of batteries in Europe and that will cover for the first time the entire life cycle of batteries (from the extraction of the raw material to production, design, recycling and reuse), dividing them into different groups according to their application.
Together with Flash Battery, we go over the main requirements that manufacturers in the industry will soon have to put in place.
