Onsite Construction | Electrification and predictive logic to maximise efficiency
22 September – Onsite construction
Flash Battery designs and manufactures customised lithium batteries for industrial machines and electric vehicles. The company’s founder and CEO, Marco Righi, emphasised how the construction industry is now ‘ready’ to electrify smaller construction machines in particular, and how more and more players are moving towards ‘full electric’ battery solutions.
“We exploit the possibility of quick recharging to increase the autonomy of machines on the construction site, which can then be recharged between jobs, during breaks. High-powered recharging systems are becoming increasingly common on construction sites. For larger machines, on the other hand, the combination of the battery and the new hydrogen ‘fuel cells’ is, in our opinion, the way forward for the future, even though it is still a technology in its infancy“.
Flash Battery‘s focus , however, remains on lithium-ion batteries today, although we do not rule out anything else in the future. We work with the aim of putting more and more energy into less space and less weight. The results are extraordinary.
A few years ago it was unthinkable to be able to work in industry and material handling, the batteries were too heavy and bulky, but in the last four years a quantum leap has been made: modern batteries have almost twice the energy density of those of yesteryear, and the Construction, Agriculture, Heavy Duty and Material Handling sectors are the fastest growing.
Today, lithium batteries can also operate according to predictive logic, exploiting algorithms and Artificial Intelligence to remotely monitor their operation, to avoid downtimes and to improve future developments in the sector with increasingly intelligent solutions.
