Flash Battery CTO Alan Pastorelli to speak at UniMoRe's international workshop on battery technologies | Flash Battery

The future of battery design and manufacturing technologies increasingly relies on collaboration between research, industry, and innovation. These topics will be at the heart of the International Workshop on Battery Technologies, Energy Storage & Electrification, taking place on November 2, 2026, at the Modena Technopole.

Organized by the “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), the event will bring together researchers, universities, companies, and industry representatives to discuss the key technological challenges driving the evolution of the battery and electrification sectors.

Among the speakers will be Alan Pastorelli, CTO and Co-Founder of Flash Battery, who will join the panel discussion “Battery Technologies, Materials and Manufacturing”, sharing the perspective of a company that has been designing and manufacturing lithium batteries for the electrification of industrial machines and vehicles for nearly 15 years.

International Workshop on Battery Technologies: Research and Industry Meet in Modena on November 2, 2026

The International Workshop on Battery Technologies, Energy Storage & Electrification was created to foster dialogue between academia and industry on the technologies shaping the future of electrification.

The event will be divided into two main sessions, designed to provide an international overview of research developments while encouraging a practical discussion on the needs and innovation opportunities within the regional industrial ecosystem.

The morning session will feature technical presentations from experts and representatives of leading international organizations, including the University of Nottingham, Basquevolt, and the Kokkola Battery Ecosystem. Discussions will focus on the current state of battery research and future developments in batteries, power conversion systems, and electrification technologies, with dedicated insights into material availability, industrial applications, and the infrastructure required to support future growth.

The program will also explore the development of an international research center dedicated to batteries and energy systems at UNIMORE, with the goal of strengthening the link between research, technology transfer, and industrial innovation.

The afternoon session will focus on the regional innovation ecosystem, featuring two roundtable discussions dedicated respectively to battery technologies and the world of electric machines and power electronics. The event will provide a valuable opportunity for direct exchange between universities, research centers, and companies, helping identify regional needs and foster new opportunities for collaboration and technology transfer.

Alan Pastorelli Joins the “Battery Technologies, Materials and Manufacturing” Roundtable

From 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Alan Pastorelli, CTO and Co-Founder of Flash Battery, will participate in the “Battery Technologies, Materials and Manufacturing” roundtable, moderated by Professor Andrea Paolella of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

The discussion will provide an opportunity to compare the perspective of the research community with the practical needs of industry, highlighting the sector’s key technological and manufacturing challenges while exploring opportunities for collaboration between academia and businesses.

During the session, Alan Pastorelli will share Flash Battery's nearly fifteen years of experience in the design and production of custom lithium batteries for industrial machines and vehicles, contributing to the discussion on application requirements and future innovation trends in the battery industry.

From Research to Industrial Applications: Flash Battery’s Contribution to the International Workshop on Battery Technologies

The evolution of battery technologies continues to create new opportunities for industrial electrification, while simultaneously introducing significant challenges related to performance, safety, reliability, and system integration.

Turning the potential of emerging technologies into real-world industrial applications requires more than advances in materials and cell technologies. It also demands a comprehensive focus on the design of the entire battery system, the Battery Management System (BMS), and its ability to adapt to real operating conditions in the field.

This approach has always been at the core of Flash Battery's philosophy. For more than 14 years, the company has been developing tailor-made lithium battery systems, supporting manufacturers of industrial machines and vehicles throughout their electrification journey.

Participation in the workshop will therefore represent an important opportunity to share our approach and engage with research centers and stakeholders across the European battery value chain, discussing the technological and manufacturing challenges that will shape the future of battery development in the years ahead.

The appointment is set for Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Modena Technopole: a full day dedicated to innovation, knowledge sharing, and the future of battery technologies.
