We Are Access Equipment | European collaborations for a technological and sustainable leadership
18/03/2024 – We are access equipment
Like any transition, electrification requires new technologies to be developed by both public agencies and private companies. As early as 2019, the EU decided to launch a first European project aimed at supporting research and innovation in what was identified as one of the priority areas to be developed for Europe’s future: batteries.
Thus the first IPCEI -Important Project of Common European Interest-was born, involving Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden with the aim of promoting collaboration in research, development and innovation to create a large-scale lithium battery production value chain, making electrification easier and the EU more technologically competitive. IPCEI, is not, however, the only initiative put on track by the European Union in this field. Far from it! There are several projects and associations that have sprung up with the aim of evolving European expertise on electrification to the highest level.
Thus, the BEPA association, the second transnational project called IPCEI 2 were born, while the Horizon Europe program has funded collaborative projects such as Opeva, Fastest and Thor, to name a few. Each of these involves private companies, universities and research centers agreeing to share information and ideas for the development of an integrated, pan-European value chain across the entire lithium battery supply chain.
The lowest common denominator made in Italy of all these projects is the participation in each of them of Flash Battery.
